- Referencing and credit checks
What does referencing involve?
Referencing is an online background check for tenants. The purpose of referencing is to ensure that the tenant can afford the property and will be a suitable tenant.
Tenants must give their details and our referencing partners will perform professional background checks to verify that all the information is correct.
Tenants will be asked to provide:
- A regular form of income
- A six-year clear credit history
- A positive landlord reference (if applicable)
Once complete, referencing results will be sent to the landlord to view from the lettingaproperty.com platform. The landlord will receive recommended actions based on the reference results. If the tenant meets the requirements for the property, they will pass referencing and the landlord can proceed.
If the tenant does not meet the requirements, further action may be needed.
