Should I be there when my tenant moves in?
Some landlords may want to hand over the property and key themselves, but there is no obligation to do so. They can ask a friend or relative to hand over the keys if needed, or arrange a key handover with a professional check-in service. This involves a professional inventory clerk handing over the keys and asking the tenant to sign a check-in document to confirm the condition of the property.
Landlords should inform their tenants of whatever arrangements are made so they can be prepared and know who will be meeting them. It's recommended that all communication is made via the Message Centre.
