Do you accept tenants on universal credit or housing benefit?

Tenants that receive Universal Credit or housing benefit have the right to apply to all properties advertised with lettingaproperty.com.

Refusing to let to anyone receiving Universal Credit or housing benefit, otherwise known as "no DSS", is unlawful as it indirectly discriminates against unemployed or low-income individuals.

All tenants can apply to rent a property with lettingaproperty.com, regardless of the benefits they receive. Tenants must meet the income requirements of the rental property they're applying for, otherwise they will not pass referencing.

The income requirement is 30 times the monthly rent amount and includes Universal Credit and housing benefit.

If a tenant cannot meet the income requirements alone, they can still pass referencing by requesting a guarantor.
